Castlevania: Lords of Shadow – Mirror of Fate was a stumble forward and a slide to the right in terms of the franchise growth. Konami was looking to revive their beloved Castlevania franchise in 2010 with a full release of Lords of Shadow on the PS3/Xbox and later on PC. This brought the franchise mechanics from a platform adventure to a God of War like mechanic. The overall gameplay was great and the story was rich and deep. Unlike previous games in the series, LoS was heavy on story and even feature the voice talent of Patrick Stewart.
Fast forward 3 years and Konami released a 3DS title called Castlevania: Lords of Shadow – Mirror of Fate. This brought the new storytelling design to a more traditional side-scrolling mechanic. It maintained the storyline from the console title and introduced a well-known character, Simon Belmont. After a decent reception, they brought the game to PC in 2014 and provided it with an HD upgrade.
The overall game plays well, with some noticeable quirks, but nothing that should turn off a platforming fan.
